Since the introduction of Document J in the April 2002
Building Regulations, it became a legal requirement to
obtain a Building Regulation certificate for all chimney
work and stove installations. This usually involves
preinspection and reinspection after work is completed for
a certificate to then be issued.

As this certificate is requested on house searches during a
sale, it is not something which can or should be
overlooked.

In an attempt by the Government to reduce the many
deathes each year by poor installation practices by a
minority of installers, it has introduced strict measures and
minimum standards to improve safety.

As Hetas registered installers and members of Nace, we
are able to complete works and issue certificates and data
plates in accordance with current Building Regulation
requirements. To ensure high standards are maintained,
regular inspections are made by Hetas official inspectors
and regular retraining is mandatory.
