About Kenwyn Stove & Chimney Co Ltd
History
This successful family enterprise, borne out of John’s
passion for woodburning stoves, was founded by John & Jan Bungay in
1980 as Kenwyn Woodstoves at Kenwyn Cottage, Buckland Brewer. The showroom
re-located first to Torrington Pannier Market for many years. In 1993
the business moved to its current location in Cornmarket Street, Torrington
where customers are able to view working stoves. More recently the showroom
was expanded by renovating the adjoining shop premises.
Jan’s son, Mark Broadhead, joined the team in
1988 and helped build up the business, eventually becoming a partner.
His wife, Rachel, then provided some of the administrative support, leaving
Jan in a position to return to higher education and pursue her own career
in Social Work.
Serious about Service
Kenwyn Stove & Chimney Co Ltd prides itself on having built
up a reputation for expertise and good workmanship with an open and honest
approach to customer needs. The majority of our customers come to us through
personal recommendation and repeat business. We have developed a good
rapport with most of them and they often become family friends.
Guaranteed Expertise
Fitting highly efficient woodburning or multi-fuel stoves into
chimneys designed for open fires can be a complex task. The problems of
tar leakage, sooty deposits which can lead to chimney fires, poor updraught
and fume leakage, all need to be carefully addressed to ensure reliable
and safe installations. Chimney re-lining has therefore become an integral
part of our installation work and more recently became mandatory as Building
Regulations were updated to reflect best practice in the heating industry. Industry Standards & Insurance
Kenwyn Stove & Chimney Co Ltd belong
to HETAS who
regularly examine our installations and installers to ensure compliance
with the latest Building Regulations. This means that we can self-certificate
all our installations which guarantees that they meet the requirements
of Household Insurers and Local Authority Building Control departments.
