Certification In an attempt by the Government to reduce the number of deaths caused by the poor installation practices of a minority of installers, it has introduced strict measures and minimum standards to improve safety. The introduction of Document J in April 2002 Building Regulations, therefore, made it a legal requirement to obtain a Building Regulation Certificate of Compliance for all chimney work and stove installations. This usually involves inspection before and after work is completed before a certificate can be issued. This certificate is now being requested prior to the purchase of any property where a stove has been installed since April 2002. It is not, therefore, something which can be overlooked. As HETAS (Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme) registered installers we are able to complete installations and issue Certificates of Compliance in accordance with current Building Regulation requirements. To ensure that high standards are maintained within the industry, HETAS inspectors regularly randomly check our installations to ensure that they meet compliance standards and regular ongoing training is mandatory. |
